On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, the national flags are flown at half-mast at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as at Georgia’s diplomatic representations and consular offices abroad, to honour the memory of those who lost their lives.

Eighteen years have passed since the full-scale military aggression launched by the Russian Federation against Georgia. In August 2008, disregarding the fundamental norms and principles of international law, Russia carried out the illegal occupation of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region - inalienable parts of Georgia’s territory - and recognised their so-called independence.

Working visit of the Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia Tea Akhvlediani took place on the 10th of January, 2020 in Portugal.
