Ambassador of Georgia presented the letters of credence to the President of the Portuguese Republic

On the 20th of July, the Ambassador of Georgia, Giorgi Mirtskhulava, presented his credentials to the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

After the ceremony the Ambassador spoke personally with the President. Positive dynamics of the bilateral relations between Georgia and Portugal and the prospectives for further cooperation in various fields were being discussed between the Ambassador and the President. Importance was given to the Interparliamentary relations.

The Ambassador of Georgia expressed his gratitude for the support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the process of its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

The President reaffirmed support for Georgia by the Portuguese side, welcomed the appointment of a new Ambassador of Georgia and wished him success in his future endeavors.

The hope of possibility to have translations of distinguished literary works in the nearest future, “Os Lusíadas” into Georgian and “Vepkhistqaosani” into Portuguese, was expressed.

The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Teresa Ribeiro attended the meeting with the President.
