Celebration of the 100th Anniversary since the foundation of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia
On the 29th of May, 2018, an official reception by the Embassy of Georgia was held at the Convent of Graça celebrating Independence Day and 100th Anniversary since the foundation of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia.
The guests were greeted by the Ambassador of Georgia, Revaz Beshidze with a welcome speech where he expressed the gratitude to the Canon of the Convent of Graça for hosting the celebration of the historic landmark for Georgia and emphasized the state, social and cultural importance of the Panel depicting martyrdom of Georgian Saint Queen Ketevan preserved in the Monastery which had been restaurated with the financial support of the Government of Georgia. He addressed the perspectives for future development of the cooperation and bilateral relations with Portugal, also cooperation in frames of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), underlined the situation on the occupied territories of Georgia, priorities of the foreign policy and the important aspects of Georgia´s European and Euro-Atlantic agenda.
The reception was attended by representatives of the Portuguese Executive and Legislative bodies, the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Lisbon, the media, Non-Governmental and Research Organizations and the Georgian Diaspora in Portugal.
Photo exhibition, also screening of a video regarding the foundation of the First Georgian Democratic Republic was held in frames of the reception.
